An example of layout standard for one of our product :
The layout is divided into top menu bar, a button bar, then left global links and right main frame- which is working area. This forms our layout standard. The UI guidelines state that individual applications will go as links in left frame and when clicked they will open in righ frame. The menu bar will change depending on which application is opend. This is a very high level UI guideline. There are detail ones too..
There can be standards for using specific style of icons for a perticular Product. There can be UI guidelines on where to place action buttons in a frame. Or how the search results are displayed…. etc.
