Web Applications> CAD Application Calculator

This is a browser interface to run CAD programs and view 3D files. Heuristic review was done on the current application and after task analysis new interaction flow was suggested.
User Tasks :
1. Select design application/program to use.
2. Enter parameters that are required for the chosen program.
3.Program exectues and shows details.

Usability observations:
1. In a browser there should not be two scrolls.
2. There are lot of colors; background black, applet gray, and window blue.
3. on First page there should not be home button. Also this is an application & not a web portal. hence, the name "home" doesn't apply here.
4. These browse buttons are not required here at the start.

Suggestion:
1. Have a default (home page) html page with company info, application info and a button to start ICAD viewer eg "launch ICAD viewer". This button will pop up a new window without normal browser buttons. Its size will be equal to applet hence there will be only one scroll of the applet. Applet will run in this window.
2. make the pop up window size equal to applet size
3. The home button on pop up window could be "Start New". We can keep this on all the screens but it should start a new window for another program to start. A tool tip can also be provided. The previous program can be killed only by exit.

Usability observations:
1. Check boxes should not be used to launch other application or another link or page.
2. Back is not required here. Because no actions is taken previously.

Suggestion:
1. There can be a button at the bottom to launch old GWL after user selects one of the xml files.
2. There should be warning message that this application is now going to be closed and you are being directed to old application with appropriate program corresponding to above selected xml file.

Usability observations:
1. The browse button in case of "client File" can launch a small html window with local browse button
2. make the color of browse window and back ground same. The user is not concerned which is the applet
3. finish button should be next.

Browse actions are explained here.
